The Dunes de Flandre water sports resort extends over 15 kilometers of sandy beaches and comprises 700 hectaers of dunes. 6 cities are part of the district 5 of them are situated on the coast: Dunkerque, Leffrinckoucke, Zuydcote, Ghyvelde and Bray-Dunes.

The area is an ideal spot for the practice of yachting, catamaraning, sandyachting, kitesurfing etc. Different local associations offer introductory lessons and training for experienced water sports enthousiasts throughout the year.

The Dunes de Flandre District Authority (SIDF) is in charge of the coordination of the water sports offer and the technical and logistic means that are put at the disposal of the different leisure centres. The SIDF also supports local water sports associations that are active in the field of sporting education. And, last but not least, the SIDF provides the opportunity to pupils of local primary schools to discover water sports during an educational stay.
