Tour de France for race yachts
 
The departure of this race has become a tradition for Dunkerque and the surrounding area.

The event takes place at the quai des Hollandais where about 30 Mumm 30 yachts berthe and where the race village is.

During this race, a major event for the Dunes de Flandre, the best French and European skippers meet. The Tour de France is organised by the Syndicat Mixte Dunkerque Neptune and the Communauté Urbaine de Dunkerque, together with SA Tour Voile and with the participation of the Syndicat Intercommunal des Dunes de Flandre. All sorts of activities take place on the occasion of this event.

The Bordées de la Citadelle contribute to the festive mood that accompanies the event. On Friday night, starting at 5pm, several free concerts take place on the quays and in the surrounding bars (sea shanties, folk, blues etc.)

The race starts on saturday morning with a prologue off Dunkirk. Another heat takes place in the afternoon and the yachts leave Dunkirk on Sunday morning.
